Each year the Mt. Horeb Public Library selects a book they encourage everyone in the community to read and talk about. The Big Read features two months of programs and wraps up with a community book discussion.
This year we are doing something a little different. We will escape the heavy topics surrounding us and delve into the worlds Agatha Christie created in her novels! For 2021, we are reading The Mysteries of Agatha Christie. The featured title is "Why Didn't They Ask Evans." You are encouraged to read as many Agatha Christie novels as you can! Our programming series will focus on the time frame and topics she covered in many of her books.
To kick things off, the library will give away 65 copies of this year's selected title to those who want to participate in the events, thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Library. The book giveaway is Saturday, September 18 at 9am. WE WILL GIVE THE BOOKS AWAY OUTSIDE THIS YEAR, as long as the weather cooperates. We will line up along the building - but not block the entrance doors! The books are given on a first come-first served basis. We have Large Print available in limited quantities. We recommend arriving early! The first program of the Big Read will immediately follow the giveaway. (Approximate program start time 9:30am.)
