China, the U.S. and Wisconsin: A Brief History

Saturday, September 24, 9:30am

With Joseph Dennis, History Professor, UW-Madison

Professor Dennis will provide an overview of Chinese history from the late 1800s to the present, especially as it relates to Chinese people's interactions with the United States and Wisconsin. Special attention will be paid to immigration, education, and events in China that led to increased interactions with Americans from the late-nineteenth century to the early twenty-first century. There will be time for questions and general discussion about Chinese history, society, and politics.

This event is the first in our Big Read programming series. All are welcome to attend, even if not participating in the Big Read.
