Express Library

MASKS MUST BE WORN IN OUR BUILDING. This is in accordance with Dane County Emergency Order #8. (Read the Order.

Practice social distancing and stay at least 6 feet away from others. 

*In accordance with Dane County Orders, we can allow 10 people in the library at one time so you may need to wait before entering. One visit (up to two hours) per person per day.

 

Chapter One: (Effective July 6, 2020):  
You are welcome to enter the center areas of the library and access the computers/printer/scanner/copy machine and fax machine without an appointment.  The other areas of the library (including the meeting rooms, shelves of books, intermediate and children's areas) remain closed.

Drive Up Service Remains Available. We encourage you to place your holds online and utilize our Drive Up Window (by appointment) to pick up your items. 

What's available in the Express Library?

  • Lucky Day and New Items for all ages will be available for browsing. You may also browse our board game collection.  The other areas of the library (including the shelves of books, intermediate and children's areas) remain closed.
    If you handle an item that you decide you don't want, please place it in the bins found at the end of the shelves. We will quarantine items that have been touched for at least 72 hours before placing them back on the shelves. 

  • Computers/Printer/Scanners/Copy Machine and Fax Machine are available for use without an appointment. (First come, first served. To comply with social distancing guidelines, staff assistance with this equipment will be limited.)

  • We have a new print-from-wherever-you-are option! (You can send your print jobs from home and come to the library to retreive them from the print station!) Click here for details. 

  • Wi-Fi. Always available outside, but now you can bring your own devices into the library to connect.

  • Wireless printing from your own devices.

  • Newspapers. (We cannot sanitize our newspapers. Please take precautions if using.) 

  • Get a library card.

  • Self checkout of materials.

  • You may pick up your holds inside. (A staff member will retrieve them for you.) We continue to offer Drive Up Service and encourage picking up holds by making an appointment to use our Drive Up Window. 

  • Pay Fines.

What safety precautions are being used?  Due to COVID-19 health concerns, we ask that you please consider your health situation before entering our public building. We care about you and want you to be safe. Please do not put yourself or others at risk because of library items or services.  Though we are doing our best to keep our spaces clean, you must use your own judgment and exercise your own safety precautions while in our building.  Only use the library if you feel it is safe for you and your family. 

  • Staff are wearing masks or face shields.

  • Customer service areas have protective shields.

  • Staff are sanitizing high touch surfaces regularly.

  • All returned items are quarantined for at least 72 hours before being checked in or put back on the shelf.

  • Computer stations are at least 6 feet apart.
