Apply today to become a Summer Library Volunteer! Open to ages 11-17. Volunteers must be entering grades 6-12 as of Fall 2026 to receive consideration.
Possible duties:
- Help with registration for programs and the reading challenge, includes working directly with families and kids.
- Help prepare craft projects and other hands-on prep work.
- Help run the SLP Prize store. Assist with family programming (example: Lego Contest, Garden Club, etc.)
- Must be able to volunteer for 10 or more hours over the course of the summer and attend orientation meeting on Monday, June 8th at 4pm.
Applications due May 29. If selected from the applicant pool, you will be contacted by the Youth Services librarian to schedule an interview. Not every applicant will be invited to interview. Schedule compatibility and reliable transportation will be considered. Thank you for your interest!

Get your groove on our all‑ages dance party. Dress as a dinosaur or rock your best 70s look. On the library lawn, weather permitting.

Please note that this is an experience based activity, not product based. Participants will not be leaving with an object after the event.
Join us for a Day of Clay! Center Ground Studios will be offing a fully hands on education experience for people of all ages, bringing the world of ceramics to our local library. We will have 3 ways to interact with clay:
Participants ages 7+will have the opportunity to pre-register for their own one on one 15 min mini pottery lesson with professional potters from the Madison Potters Guild. They will be guided through making a pot from start to finish.(Registration opens June 8th).
Our hand building table will not require registration and is open to all ages. There will be an all ages work space set up with a variety of self guided age appropriate project prompts to set your little up for success.
Finally, get inspired watching a chunk of clay be transformed into a lovely vase right in front of you in real time. We will be showcasing the talents of local potters on our Demonstration wheel, where they will share how to make many different forms using varied techniques.
Meet in the library outdoor shelter, weather permitting.

Acompaña al señor Ricardo para la hora de cuentos infantiles. Este evento esta diseñado para edades 3 - 6, pero todas las edades están bienvenidas. No se requiere registrar y es gratis.
Join Mr. Ricardo for Spanish storytime an event where kiddos and caregivers can participate in interactive activities such as, music and songs; finger play and bounces; rhythms and rhymes; puppets and more. This event is designed for ages 3 - 6, but all are welcome. No registration. Siblings and childcare groups are welcome.
Ricardo Marroquin is a Library Assistant at Dane County Library and is one of the Dream Bus drivers. Ricardo is a Spanish native speaker and enjoys bringing his Mexican heritage creative perspective into his storytime curriculum.

Explore early‑learning support and learn about local resources for families at the Early Childhood Resource Fair, featuring area childcare providers and community organizations that serve families with young children. Drop in to gather resources & giveaways, ask questions, and discover programs for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Kids activities and snacks will be provided.
